October 2019

October 2019 is winding down.  The red and orange of the autumn leaves have covered the the volley ball court and gaga pit.  The squirrels are hunkering down in their nests while the last of the loons have flown south for the year.  As I’m writing this a light dusting of snow is floating down covering all the projects we have constructed this year.  With Halloween a week away we have some treats and goodies to share.  Don’t worry, there are no tricks here!

Yes, it’s almost ready.  Registration will be open for 2020 in a couple weeks!  It has taken us a little bit more time this year than last year to open it up, but be ready to claim your spot and that Early Bird Special!  We have a few changes to share with you for the 2020 season:

  • After multiple inquiries we have fully opened Day Camp up for 8 year old campers.  If your camper is 8 then you will see both Day Camp and Youth Camp options to choose from.
  • Explorers and Adventure programs have merged into just Adventures.  Emulating the changes in 2019, the Adventure program learns and practices varying camp craft skills on-site while camping in the Adventure Platform tent site.  Head out for a 2-day, 1-night canoe trip along the Embarrass River.  Adventure Camp will be running during sessions 5, 6, & 7 which are the dates of July 19 – August 7.
  • Leadership Development Campers will continue to their experience from 2019 and be sleeping in the Adventure Camp Platform Tents during their 2-week experience.  They will have the tent site to themselves as they work on team building and hold evening discussions.  Leadership Development Camp will once again run during session 3 & 4 which are July 5 – July 17 with a canoe camping trip during their weekend stay.
  • Early Bird Special closes by the end of the day February 1st 2020!  Make sure to register beforehand for a $25 gift certificate to the Camp Store!  We will be restocking with some camp favorite items, but would like to hear from you if there are some cool camp apparel or items you would love for us to get!  Click on the link here to leave us suggestions.

Winter Retreat season is right around the corner!  Over the last few years we have opened the lodge, cabins, and sauna for a variety of youth retreats.  High school Ski Teams from Duluth and down in the Twin Cities have joined us for team bonding and practice retreats.  Church’s and Scout Troops from the Iron Range, Western Minnesota and the Twin Cities have also been visiting for their Ski Retreats at Giants Ridge or spring and fall camping.  If you’re looking at a great winter ski trip and would like more information, click on our contact page here!

We have more to share, but we don’t want to bog you down with too much information at once.  This is why we are starting up our Camp Blog more often.  Our goal is each month to share an update about camp projects, fun groups and community members who have visited camp, or maybe some great articles we have read about the benefits of camp and the importance of youth getting outside.  Don’t forget to click here to help us answer a few questions.  It’ll only take a couple minutes to help us out.

Share The Journey,
