Camp Esquagama’s Explorer Program is for youth with Autism and Cognitive Delay. Our program is fully committed to providing campers a safe space, growing character, developing skills, building confidence, and making new friends. Each camper has their own Camp Counselor who is their Camp Buddy for the week in addition to professional and licensed special needs and behavioral staff. At check-in each day you and your camper get to pick which of our favorite camp activities they would like to participate in that day such as Arts & Crafts, Land Sports, Climbing Wall, Archery, Canoeing, and more! New this year, campers have the option to stay overnight the 2nd night of camp!

DAY TO DAY
FAMILY PICNIC DAY … Sunday, June 29th, NOON – 3pm
- Join us for some fun camp activities and lunch! It is a great opportunity to walk the campgrounds all together before dropping your camper off for the first day of camp the following day. Meet the camp team and get to know your camper’s personal Camp Buddy.
DAY 1 of CAMP … Monday, June 30th, 7:30am – 4:30pm
- When you and your camper arrive in the morning to check-in for the day, you and your camper have the ability to pick and choose what variety of morning camp activities they would like to take part in that day. These activities include Arts & Crafts, Games in the Sports Field, Archery, Climbing Wall, etc. Each activity period lasts about 40minutes with time to transition between each activity. If the camper finishes early, we have additional activity areas they can transition to with their camp buddy and another counselor and camper. These include activities like walking the nature trail, visiting the animals in the barn yard, swinging or resting in the hammocks, or maybe a trip to our sensory room zone. In the afternoon we have waterfront activities including swimming, canoes, pontoon rides, etc. Followed by a snack at the canteen, campfire, and songs before going home for the day.
DAY 2 of CAMP … Tuesday, July 1st, 7:30am – 4:30pm
- Day 2 is the same as Day 1. In the morning you can choose the same activities if your camper would like or switch it up and go with a new morning schedule of fun!
DAY 2 of CAMP … SLEEP OVER OPTION!!!
- With great interest from a number of campers in the past, we are excited to offer an optional overnight experience on night 2 of camp! No need to pick them up on Day 2 or drop them off on Day 3! On Day 2, when they arrive to camp, we will help get them moved into their cabin with the other campers and counselors for the night. You’ll want to bring any overnight and morning supplies your camper will need such as clothes for the next day, toiletries, bedding, medications, stuffies or other personal items that will help them feel comfortable away from home for an evening.
DAY 3 of CAMP … Wednesday, July 2nd, 7:30am – 4:30pm
- Day 3 starts off the same as Days 1 & 2! Come early and join us in the afternoon around 3:30pm for our closing ceremony of campfire songs and s’mores!!!
